Tools support for Large BGP Communities is now available to help implementation, debugging and analysis of this new path attribute.

The following tools can now support Large BGP Communities:

• tcpdump.org, the implementation used for many Linux and BSD distributions.
• FreeBSD’s tcpdump.
• OpenBSD’s tcpdump.
• Wireshark and tshark.

Example PCAP data to test the debugging tools is also available.

Please note that some of these patches are still pending to be accepted into the project’s main branch or release. For instance, the patch might not be compliant with the project’s style guide. However, for development or early adaptor debugging purposes, these tools beat reading the wire and decoding it in your head!
